Last month we brought you the news that many of the theatre artists visiting Theatre New Brunswick as part of our 2015-2016 season received nominations for the 2015 Dora Mavor Moore Awards (Dora Awards), presented by the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts. These awards represent some of the highest honours in Canadian theatre.
Since sharing this news with you, this year’s awards have been handed out at the event’s annual gala which took place June 22, and we’re happy to announce members of our 2015-2016 company were among this year’s recipients.
One of the biggest winners at this year’s awards was Soheil Parsa. Soheil took home awards for Outstanding Production and Outstanding Direction for Modern Times Stage Company / Aluna Theatre’s production of Blood Wedding (Bodas de Sangre) which also won six awards of its own in the Independent Theatre Division. Soheil will join our 2016-2016 company to direct our production of Vigil (Oct 22 – Nov.1) at the TNB Studio Theatre.
Eda Holmes, who will direct Life, Death and the Blues this September at the Fredericton Playhouse, won the award for Outstanding Direction in the General Theatre Division for her work on Buddies in Bad Times Theatre’s Tom at the Farm.
Can you tell we’re getting excited?
