Shakespeare and Verse | September 10 – 11, 2016 | Instructor: Ken Schwartz
(Fredericton) Theatre New Brunswick is proud to announce its first professional training opportunity of the season. Instructor Ken Schwartz will present the two day workshop Shakespeare and Verse September 10-11, 2016 at the Open Space Theatre, 55 Whiting Road in Fredericton.
Ken Schwartz is the artistic director of Nova Scotia’s Two Planks and a Passion Theatre Company and will share new insights and approaches to interpreting Shakespeare’s use of language over two days of training.
“Ken is an incredible artist,” said Theatre New Brunswick’s Artistic Director Thomas Morgan Jones. “Since I first met him six years ago, I have been hugely inspired by his work as a director and artistic director, and also have been excited by how his process as an artist has evolved because of his work with incoming artistic director of The Shaw Festival, Tim Carroll. Ken’s workshop will be accessible to both actors and teachers, from the most experienced with Shakespeare to the beginner. It will be place for rigorous play, and I’m sure we’ll all leave the workshop with new perspectives, new ideas, and new inspiration.”
This weekend workshop will be the first of three planned for the company’s 2016-2017 season. In February, Artistic Director Thomas Morgan Jones will conduct the two day workshop Monologues – Performance and Audition exploring how text and physicality work together. And the training season will conclude with the week-long workshop, Suzuki Method of Actor Training and Viewpoints in June.
