Theatre New Brunswick is seeking its next Theatre School Director!
About Us:
Theatre New Brunswick is a touring, regional theatre company located in Fredericton, NB. Our shows tour all over NB and sometimes beyond. We produce several professional mainstage productions annually, as well as two shows for youth that travel to schools in the province.
We are a dynamic and creative company where no two weeks look the same! Sometimes we are more administrative, and the building is quiet and calm. Sometimes we are full with Theatre School classes, rehearsals in the theatre and meetings in the boardroom. Some days we are more fancy, preparing to open a show while some days we’re in paint clothes, moving tables around and sweeping floors.
About You:
You love teaching and children and you’ve been working with children for at least a few years. You have a background in theatre. Maybe you have a degree in theatre and/or education. Experience directing shows is an asset, as you’ll direct the two senior theatre classes year-end shows, as well as our Young Company productions.
You have great communication skills, and the ability to handle high pressure situations. Experience doing administration and/or producing shows is also an asset, as you’ll have responsibilities like preparing contracts for teachers and artists, making rehearsal schedules, communicating with parents and preparing curriculum.
The Theatre School Director is a full-time position. Work hours are a mix of days, evenings and weekends, because our classes are scheduled mostly when school aged children are available.
Compensation is $40,000 annually with benefits and a medical plan. It is crucial that TNB, including its Theatre School, be a place where employees, artists and students feel safe and welcome. We aim to be as flexible with work schedules as possible and we respect that some people prefer working from home while some prefer working evenings. Many of our staff balance work with their family lives, artistic practice, and other passion projects. We want to help set you up for success, and are willing to listen to how you envision this position.
The Theatre School Director will:
