TNB Theatre School are getting an early start on this summer’s programming with today’s announcement outlining a variety of programs for students grades K-12 ranging from acting to musical theatre, set to take place during July and August in Fredericton.

Each week-long program concludes with a performance for family and friends where student get a chance to show off what they’ve learned during their week at the theatre.

“In the fun and supportive environment of our summer theatre school, students will receive training in acting, voice, movement and dance through the process of bringing a production to life,” said Sharisse Lebrun, who came up through the TNB Theatre School and has now been instructing for the past few seasons. “Students will develop in creativity, imagination, performance skills, collaboration and self-confidence.”

Programming begins July 3 with morning and afternoon sessions in Playtime Theatre, an introductory class where children grades K-2 will explore and expand their creativity, imagination and confidence through dance, song, movement and theatre games. The summer progresses with several programs in musical theatre and acting created specifically for students between grades 3 and 12.

This summer’s programming includes the addition of a second week of Playtime Theatre classes in late August plus a new program for students grades 6-12 focusing on the art of improvisation.

“We have an exciting new camp offering this year,” said Lebrun.  “In partnership with the improvisation company, Hot Garbage Players, we will be offering a camp focused on improvisation culminating in a Whose Line is It Anyway? style final performance.”

Summer programs at TNB Theatre School have been inspiring children and instructors for more than 20 years.

“The process is not only fun and informative, but incredibly rewarding to see the progress that students make in just one week,” said TNB Theatre School voice instructor (and former student) Sarah Bell. “New friends are made, new hobbies are found, and students and confidence levels grow exponentially. It’s fascinating to witness and even better to be a part of.”
